A record number of students from Watertown High School participated in the National German Exam this year, which is organized by the American Association of Teachers of German. Out of 19 students who took part in the reading and listening exam, 12 received national recognition.

Achievement Awards for above-average performance (between the 60th-69th percentile) on the Level 2 exam were awarded to Braden Cronce and Elisabeth Huhn. Ian Griffin, Kenny Pettitt, Sara Rodriguez, and Ze Zietlow earned Achievement Awards on the Level 3 exam.

Several students achieved Bronze Awards (70th-79th percentile) on the Level 2 exam: Stellah Freitag, Braeden Nemitz, Hailey Zabel, and Lauren Zoellick. Two students received Gold Award recognition for scoring in the 90th-95th percentile, making them eligible to compete for a three-week all-expenses-paid study abroad scholarship: Theo Heier on the Level 2 exam and Jack Zoellick on the Level 3 exam.

Students who earn medals are recognized on the AATG website and will receive their medals at a state awards ceremony in May.
