On April 25, 2025, the Whitewater Police Department arrested six adult males in connection with a human trafficking operation in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The individuals, aged between 24 and 57, face various charges and were confined in the Walworth County Jail. They have been referred to either the Whitewater Municipal Court or the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office.
The charges include six counts of prostitution, one count of operating while intoxicated (4th offense), one count of felony possession of THC, one count of municipal possession of THC, six counts of disorderly conduct, one count of misdemeanor bail jumping, four counts of felony bail jumping, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of possession of cocaine, one count of failure to install an ignition interlock device, and one count of possession of fentanyl.
The operation was conducted with assistance from several law enforcement agencies including the City of Delavan Police Department, City of Lake Geneva Police Department, UW-Whitewater Police Department, and Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. The Whitewater Police Department emphasized the importance of addressing human trafficking due to its severe impact on victims who are often coerced into situations involving abuse.
"This issue affects people of all ages and backgrounds," said the department. They also highlighted their commitment to identifying and supporting victims while holding offenders accountable.
The investigation is ongoing. It is important to note that unless a judgment is entered, the defendants are presumed innocent.
