Thirteen seniors from Watertown High School have achieved the Global Seal of Biliteracy in the 2024-25 academic year. This accolade acknowledges proficiency in two or more languages, offering various advantages for students in advanced language placement and career opportunities.
The students recognized for this achievement include Eric Cortez, Kimberly Jimenez, Maria Mora Perez, Leilani Olguin, Yunis Olguin Dominguez, Angel Ramirez, Viviana Velez, Guadalupe Viedma, Jennifer Lopez, Sara Rodriguez, Amenn Martinez Bustillo, Sandra Sotelo Benedicto, and Hannah Trujillo.
The Global Seal of Biliteracy is an international language certification that assists programs and businesses worldwide in validating language skills. It helps in securing scholarships and enhances employability by allowing employers to verify language proficiency and related soft skills.
Ashley Peirick, the English Language Coordinator at Watertown Unified School District (WUSD), remarked, "In today’s global economy, proficiency in multiple languages has tremendous value. We are proud that these students are now part of this global community of multilingual individuals. We congratulate our students on this significant achievement and look forward to seeing the opportunities that their Global Seal of Biliteracy will bring them in the future."
