After monitoring an incoming winter storm, Drew Halbesma, Superintendent of Delavan-Darien Schools, has decided to close all schools and cancel after-school activities on February 12, 2025. The decision comes in response to forecasts predicting heavy snowfall beginning around noon, which could result in hazardous road conditions during dismissal and evening commutes.

"While snowfall in the morning is expected to be minimal," Halbesma noted, "forecasts indicate heavy snowfall beginning around noon." He added that accumulations could exceed seven inches, making travel unsafe for buses, high school students who drive, and staff traveling long distances.

Halbesma emphasized the importance of early communication regarding such decisions: "I always strive to make these decisions as early as possible to allow families time to plan."

He concluded with a message for the community: "Please stay safe. Enjoy your snow day adventures, #CometNation! Stay warm and have fun!"
