On April 1, the community will cast their votes on a referendum concerning the Watertown Unified School District (WUSD). The proposal seeks to allow the district to exceed its state-imposed revenue limit by $7 million annually, beginning in the 2025-26 school year.

The additional funds are intended for several purposes. The district aims to enhance school safety, retain and attract top talent, protect high-quality programs and services, and expand opportunities for students.

WUSD faces financial challenges similar to many other Wisconsin school districts. These include insufficient state education funding, decreased state aid, and rising costs due to inflation. More information about the referendum can be found at [Watertown School District's website](https://www.watertown.k12.wi.us/page/spring-referendum).
