Fontana J8 School District issued the following announcement on Feb 4.
Hello Falcons!!
Thank you to all of our parents for your flexibility and teamwork to navigate the weekly adjustments, successes, and challenges we work together with frequently. Our Wednesday non-attendance day allowed our staff to collaborate, develop professionally, and finalize our work on the second quarter. Here are FIVE things to know this week:
- Our 8th graders had a wonderful opportunity to join the Lake Geneva Ice Sculpting event today (Friday 2/4) with other middle schools and professional ice sculptures from all over the world. One group finished third in the voting for best ice formation.
- During January, February, and March our 2nd and 3rd grade students get the wonderful opportunity to swim at the Lake Geneva YMCA on Friday's. They learn water safety, proper swimming and underwater skills to be proficient in the water. The student absolutely love the break to swim and learn.
- The Open Enrollment Window for Wisconsin schools opens this Monday, February 7th, for the 22/23 school year. Mrs. Wendy Schanau is our open enrollment specialist and Mrs. Cathy Long and Mrs. Susan Ziganto are the registration supports for Fontana. Please visit our website HERE for more information and never hesitate to contact our office for me details.
- Today we started a winter tradition at Fontana called "Hot Chocolate Friday's". Parent volunteers make and serve delicious hot chocolate to students during their lunch period. We enjoy the fun, chocolate mustache's, and warm up during February. Thank you parents and PTSO.
- On Feb. 18th we have the incredible opportunity to have the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra give 2 performances. Grades have been divided based on numbers, teacher and administration input to join the presentation in the gym. We can't wait!!
- (Bonus)Recently we had the generous donation approved from Convergence Energy Solar Company. They will be donating 21 solar panels to be installed this spring to provide our STEM lab and school the opportunity to plan, observe, improve, and create green energy and renewable resource plans among many other projects! More to come, but we can't wait to partner with Convergence Energy on this innovative project connected to our Fab Lab.
