Watertown High School students receive over $700K in local scholarships

Watertown High School students were awarded over $700,000 in local scholarships on Monday evening. Many students also received financial aid packages from the universities they plan to attend, significantly increasing the total amount of support.

Megan Doherty topped the list with scholarships totaling $37,600. Her awards included the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke at $26,000 and several others. Megan plans to study business analytics and Spanish at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

Teagan McGuire was awarded $36,095 in scholarships, including the Karl H. Zinser valued at $35,000. He intends to study accounting at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

Sarah Rodriguez Machado received $35,200 in awards and will attend UW-Whitewater for a BBA in Accounting while becoming a certified translator.

Jack Zoellick secured $33,000 in scholarships and plans to study agronomy at UW-Madison.

Ian Griffin received a scholarship totaling $32,000 from WHS Class of 1955 and will pursue astronomy and physics at UW-Madison.

Addison Stas was awarded $29,250 in scholarships and will study nursing at Carthage College.

Sophia Nieto received $29,000 in scholarships for her studies in biomedicine with a pre-medicine track at UW-La Crosse.

Marissa Bischoff was awarded $27,250 in scholarships for her nursing degree pursuit at Carroll University.

Ryanna Bilgrien plans to study biomedical sciences at UW-Milwaukee after receiving a scholarship valued at $27,000.

Morgan Sellnow also received a scholarship valued at $27,000 and plans to study biology at UW-La Crosse.

Julian Byrne received a scholarship valued at $26,000 for his studies in exercise science with aspirations of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy at St. Olaf College.

Matthew Hammond was awarded a scholarship valued at $26,000 and intends to study Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University.

Laura Thielke received a scholarship valued at $26,000 for her sociology studies planned for Carroll University next year.

Katie Hanus-Krueger secured awards totaling $24,500 and aims to major in nursing at UW-Madison after high school graduation.
