Delavan-Darien High School and the Delavan-Darien Technical School have been awarded the 2024 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award. This recognition makes them the only school district in Wisconsin to receive this award for their efforts in enhancing financial literacy among students.

Governor Tony Evers presented the award at a ceremony held at the State Capitol on April 29. The award acknowledges the district's work in promoting financial literacy, capability, and inclusion for students across Wisconsin.

Representatives from the schools who attended the ceremony included Hannah Becke, a business teacher and FBLA advisor; Jodi Scott, a business education teacher; and Michael Rick, an administrator at DD Tech.

The schools have implemented various programs to prepare students for financial success. These include interactive tools like EVERFI and Next Gen Personal Finance, practical experiences such as the Reality Fair, and scholarship opportunities related to personal finance education. During the 2023–24 school year, 155 students completed a personal finance course required by the district before it became a state mandate under Wisconsin Act 60.

Special acknowledgment was given to Blackhawk Community Credit Union and Victor Frasher from Educators Credit Union for their contributions recognized in the Organization and Legacy categories. Their partnership has been instrumental in preparing students for future career, community, and life challenges.

The award reflects the dedication of educators and community partners towards empowering students for lifelong success.
