Lake Geneva Schools is preparing to welcome new beginners to its band program, offering every 5th grader an opportunity to participate. The initiative is designed to make joining the band both accessible and cost-efficient, with flexible instrument rental options.
Parents are encouraged to consider the band's program as a meaningful activity for their children. "Contrary to what many parents think, it is quite easy and very cost-effective based on flexible instrument rental programs, class lessons, band rehearsals, and an atmosphere of cooperation designed to have every child enjoy this meaningful experience," said Amanda Krause, Director of Bands. Rental costs range from $45.00 to $110.00 for four months, though school-owned instruments are available in limited supply, ensuring cost is not a barrier to participation.
To decide on an instrument, students will try mouthpieces in their music classrooms and can participate in an Instrument Display and Rental Night on May 19th by appointment. Breber Music will assist with rental contracts during this event.
Amanda Krause also highlighted the importance of the program, stating, "Each year, the Lake Geneva Schools offers the chance for every 5th grader to participate in beginning band. We are very excited about our instrumental music program and eagerly look forward to this new crop of budding young artists who will join this year’s class of talented musicians."
The program will include a free summer band session from August 4th to 21st, with classes running Monday through Thursday. When school resumes, 5th grade band sessions will meet at Lake Geneva Middle School from 7:25-8:15 am, with bus transportation available.
Interested parents can fill out a Google Form to enroll their children and sign up for instrument trials.
