June Brus, a dedicated music educator and pianist, has been influencing students at Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) for over two decades. Her journey with music began in childhood when she played her neighbor's piano and composed simple songs like "We're Having a Tea Party." Brus pursued her passion academically, earning both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Piano Performance from the University of Wisconsin.

Throughout her career, June Brus has taught at various institutions including Carroll University in Waukesha, WI. In 2003, she joined MBU where she continues to teach private piano lessons along with courses such as Piano Pedagogy 3 and Keyboard Ensembles. She describes teaching as “the best job in the world” due to the unique perspective MBU students have towards music: “It is to honor and praise the Lord… not for personal ego.”

Brus emphasizes continuous growth to her students: “They need to keep growing every day,” encouraging them not only to play correctly but also to envision how they want their pieces to sound. Lorraine Alner, a former student, recalls leaving lessons with newfound confidence: “I’ll always remember Mrs. Brus as the one who made me feel ready to fly!”

Faith plays an integral role in June Brus’s life and work. She credits her parents for nurturing both her musical talent and spiritual foundation. This faith-driven approach influences how she teaches music at MBU, seeing it as a gift from the Lord that requires stewardship.

Her impact on students is profound; Raeanna Eastwood notes how June emphasized playing "to the glory of God" during lessons. The relationship between teacher and student is something Brus values deeply—“Students may forget what you say, but they will never forget how you made them feel,” Lorraine writes about her experience under June's guidance.

Colleagues also recognize Brus’s contributions. Dr. David Ledgerwood praises her ability as both performer and educator: “She has left her mark on the quality of our program!” Janet Tschida highlights June's personable nature alongside professional excellence: “Her gracious manner immediately sets people at ease.”

Beyond academia, June enjoys hobbies like hiking and dog training while cherishing family time with children and grandchildren—the "little joys" of her life.

Maranatha Baptist University expresses gratitude for June’s commitment over twenty-two years—a dedication expected to continue enriching its community into future years.
