Lake Geneva Middle School is set to host its annual Veterans Day celebration on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. in the school's gymnasium. The event will feature performances by the seventh and eighth-grade orchestras, bands, and choirs under the direction of Mrs. Lauren Klement, Mrs. Amanda Krause, and Mrs. Kim May. Accompaniment for the choirs will be provided by Mrs. Deanna Deal.
A highlight of the program includes a combined performance of "You're A Grand Old Flag," during which audience participation is encouraged through a sing-along. The Color Guard from Post 24 of The American Legion in Lake Geneva will present the colors.
Veterans attending are invited to introduce themselves and share their service history by "passing the microphone." Principal Anne Heck expressed enthusiasm for the event: “We’re looking forward to honoring and celebrating our local heroes who have so bravely served our country.” She noted that the program has been rewarding for both students and veterans.
After the assembly, a luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m., open to community members or family members of students who are veterans or related to veterans. Students from Mrs. Sarah Opie’s family and consumer science class will prepare and serve lunch.
Veterans interested in attending the luncheon should RSVP by calling 262-348-3000 before Thursday, October 31, 2024. Lake Geneva Middle School is located at 600 Bloomfield Road in Lake Geneva.
