The Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum is being highlighted in a recent communication to parents and guardians. Erin Zigler, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with families to enhance children's educational experiences through CKLA. This curriculum aims to improve students' skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking while offering insights into history, science, and literature.

Parents are encouraged to support their child's learning at home by engaging in activities that complement classroom instruction. Suggestions include reading together, discussing stories, practicing vocabulary through conversation and games, and exploring historical or scientific topics further through books or documentaries.

The CKLA curriculum emphasizes building background knowledge and vocabulary. Parents can assist by setting aside time for reading sessions with their children and asking questions about the material to stimulate discussion. Additionally, they can review new vocabulary words learned at school and incorporate them into daily conversations.

For those interested in understanding more about what their child is learning, resources are available online at Amplify's caregiver hub. Parents can access detailed information by navigating to the Units overview tab on the website.

Erin Zigler emphasized the importance of parental involvement in reinforcing a strong foundation in language arts across various subjects. She invited parents to reach out if they have questions or need additional resources for supporting CKLA learning at home.

Zigler concluded her message by thanking parents for their role in their child's educational journey.
