A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Bloomfield, Wisconsin, seeking information about new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
We at Whitewater Times are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. In line with this commitment, we requested a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we preferred to receive the data in an electronic format.
As a media organization, our role is not only to gather and report news but also to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill these professional responsibilities.
In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
