On November 10, 2024, Hannah Glass, a junior English Education major at MBU, passed away following an allergic reaction. She lived with her family in a nearby community and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jefferson. Known for her academic excellence and dedication to her church, she made a significant impact during her time on campus and through her education fieldwork.
Hannah's family chose to donate her organs, allowing others to receive life-saving transplants. As she was taken into the operating room at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, around two hundred people participated in an Honor Walk to show their support and respect for the family's decision. That evening, faculty members and staff led students in prayer across campus dormitories. On Monday morning during chapel, President Dr. David Anderson offered words of comfort from Scripture and shared his personal experiences with loss. Campus counselors have been available to support students' spiritual needs.
CEO Dr. Davis expressed on Facebook: “From a human standpoint, we grieve the loss of Hannah. It breaks our hearts to consider all the things that she will ‘miss’ in life. But we trust the promises of Scripture that our times are in God’s hands, and that every believer will abide for eternity in the glorious presence of the Savior. Truly for the Christian, it is not death to die. May we all live as Hannah did, to the praise of His glory.”
A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church located at 792 Milford Street in Watertown. Dr. David Anderson will lead the service with musical contributions from MBU musicians. Visitation for family and close friends will begin at 10:00 AM. The administration has encouraged attendance by faculty, staff, and students; therefore, campus operations will be suspended from 10:30 AM until after the service.
Calvary Baptist Church plans to live stream the memorial service online.
Donations can be made to help cover medical expenses.
