FOIA Request to Town of Waterloo Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Whitewater Times have submitted a request for public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
The request specifically seeks a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As part of our role in disseminating information to the public and holding public institutions accountable, access to such records is crucial.
Given our role as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. This is an essential step in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include providing transparency to the public.
We look forward to receiving these records in electronic format from the Town of Waterloo. We believe that this information will greatly contribute towards maintaining transparency in our local government's activities and processes.
