FOIA Request to Town of Wien Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
As a part of our commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Whitewater Times have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Town of Wien. The request was made for records of new voter registrations that took place on November 5, 2024.
We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we requested these records preferably in an electronic format.
Given our role in disseminating information, we also expressed our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We are eagerly awaiting a response from the Town of Wien and will keep our readers updated with any developments regarding this request.
