FOIA Request to City of Jefferson Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Whitewater Times have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records of new voter registrations from the recent election held on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
The requested records will help us inform the public about voter turnout and participation in the recent election. We aim to ensure that all aspects of the electoral process are transparent and open for scrutiny by the public.
