City of Lake Mills issued the following announcement on March 29.
Hydrant Flushing Scheduled for April 11th to May 13th
Lake Mills Light & Water will be flushing fire hydrants beginning April 11, 2022 until approximately May 13, 2022. The regular flushing of fire hydrants is required by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Flushing hydrants often results in discolored or what appears to be dirty water in homes and businesses. This is caused by the disruption of sediment in the water pipes near the hydrant. The water is still safe, but LML&W recommends running water for a few minutes until water runs clear. This is particularly important for washing machines and dishwashers to avoid staining clothes or dishes.
