Walworth County issued the following announcement on March 15.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin construction on an approximately 9-mile stretch of US Highway 12 between WIS 50 and WIS 67 (between Lake Geneva and Elkhorn) starting March 21, 2022, weather permitting. The project is scheduled during the 2022 and 2023 construction seasons, with completion estimated for Fall 2023.
Work will be done under single-lane closures as well as bi-directional traffic utilizing a crossover. Drivers should be prepared for full closures of Sheridan Springs Rd. and Springfield Rd. over US 12 to facilitate bridge work, as well as various overnight ramp closures and alternating WIS 120 interchange ramp closures.
The project improvements include:
- Resurfacing nine miles of US 12 between WIS 50 and WIS 67
- Structure rehabilitation at several bridges and culverts
- New guardrail with the corridor
- Signing and pavement marking upgrades within project limits
