Fontana J8 School District issued the following announcement on October 22.
Hello Falcons!!
Week 8 was fire prevention week and so much more. This past week was a wonderful reminder of the great community we live, work, and learn in. We raised money for community service projects, partnered with our firefighters, provided food through our weekend food program, and connected with our friends and First National Bank and Trust to organize/plan our winning teams from the Penny War to name a few. Here are FIVE (plus bonus 6th) things to know this week:
- Reminder, if anyone in your household is being tested for COVID and/or has a pending COVID test, all household members are required to remain home until the results of the test are known. Additionally, our school currently does not have any active COVID cases and our continued teamwork and careful monitoring of symptoms will keep us moving in the right direction!!
- Walworth is hosting a vaccine clinic on Wednesday October 27th for those interested. More information HERE
- Our elementary classrooms will have Halloween parties next Thursday. Please be sure to check in with your child's class for more specifics. We want to be mindful of all students and families and any/all snacks will need to be individually wrapped to avoid multiple hands touching items.
- Our first night of parent/teacher conferences took place this past Thursday evening. Thank you to our wonderful PTSO for providing a much needed dinner and snacks for our awesome staff as they worked well into the evening after school hours. Our next round of conferences are next Thursday, October 28th, from 12p - 4p. Also, next Thursday is a half-day dismissal for students (11:20a dismissal for all students)
- In case you missed it, our Falcon Early Childhood Center raised the most coins overall (nearly $250 in pennies) during our Penny War fundraiser and our 7th grade was the overall winner after subtractions for silver coins and dollars were accounted for.
- (BONUS) Fontana school is excited to introduce our "Influencers" student leadership team. This is a new team this year that is a collaboration between our Student Council and National Junior Honor Society and includes a good number of our middle school students. Mrs. Peiffer and Mrs. Gutierrez are leading this new endeavor.
Our picture retakes took place this week as well so please reach out to Mrs. Ziganto in the office if you have any further picture questions. Our volleyball teams continue to grow and improve each week and our robotics teams are well on their way designing and planning. Have a great weekend Falcons.
