Delavan will host its 4th of July celebration on Friday, July 4, featuring a series of events throughout the city. The day will culminate in a fireworks show at Borg Stadium.
The schedule begins at 3:00 PM with the Independence Day Parade starting from 6th Street and concluding at Phoenix Park. Following this, from 4:00 to 5:45 PM, the Celebration of Freedom will take place at the Phoenix Park Bandshell. This event includes live music by Gary Stebnitz, a Marine Corps Parade of Colors, and the National Anthem.
At 6:00 PM, attendees can enjoy "Ain’t That America," a tribute band performing John Mellencamp's music.
A family-friendly celebration is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at Delavan-Darien High School (DDHS). Activities include free bounce houses, face painting, temporary tattoos, and a “Pie a Cheerleader” fundraiser. There will also be a photo booth and a Spirit Store offering Comet gear for sale. A live performance by the Delavan Youth Cheer Team is set for 6:15 PM. Concessions will be available with options like brats, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, chips, candy, soda, water and more. Both cash and credit cards are accepted.
The Dunk Tank offers an opportunity to dunk favorite Comet football players or coaches.
The evening concludes with a flag ceremony and fireworks display presented by J&M Displays from 9:00 to 9:45 PM. These events can be viewed from Borg Stadium stands.
Organizers encourage families to join in the celebrations and suggest bringing lawn chairs or blankets if they prefer not to sit in the bleachers.
