Badger High School and Lake Geneva Middle School students are set to take part in the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) sanctioned District Solo & Ensemble Music Festival. The event is scheduled for March 1, 2025, at Lake Geneva Middle School and is open to the public without charge. Participants will perform a variety of musical pieces including solos, duets, trios, and small ensembles for an adjudicator.

This annual WSMA music festival draws numerous students from middle, junior high, and high schools across Wisconsin. This year’s participants include students from Badger High School, Brookwood Middle School, Delavan Darien High School, Lakeland School, Phoenix Middle School, Reek School, The Lincoln Academy (HS), and Traver School. Kim May from Lake Geneva Middle School will manage the festival.

Laurie Fellenz, Executive Director of WSMA, stated that "WSMA is proud to support music educators as we work together to provide quality music education experiences for students. Our long-standing festival programs encourage well-rounded musicians who develop deeper understanding through performance preparation that culminates in comprehensive feedback from a qualified adjudicator. Opportunities for reflection and consideration of new ideas is invaluable for musical growth."

The festivals are part of WSMA's efforts to support school music programs by encouraging the study of quality music literature and motivating students to excel in their performances. They aim to enhance understanding of music concepts and provide performance assessments to foster individual and group achievement.
