A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of East Troy, Wisconsin, regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Whitewater Times have requested a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we have asked for the information in an electronic format.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will contribute significantly to our mission of informing the public about important civic matters.
We have also applied for a fee waiver as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. We await the response from the Village of East Troy and will continue our efforts to bring light to important issues concerning local governance.
