Recognizing that Maria is not yet ready for religious life, Mother Abbess sends her to be the governess for the seven children of a widowed naval officer. Finding the household strictly run like one of his ships, Maria reintroduces music and warmth and quickly charms both the children and their father. Favorite songs such as ?Do Re Mi? and ?Climb Every Mountain? fill this time-honored show that practically invented the term ?family entertainment.?
