Walworth County recently issued the following announcement.
The CTH-U Bridge over Nippersink Creek in the Town of Bloomfield is scheduled to re-open on Friday, December 3, 2021. To date, the work remaining includes road shouldering, installation of the safety guardrails, restoration and clean-up.
This project had encountered a significant delay in construction due to an incorrectly located underground fiber-optic line. Progress on the bridge was suspended for weeks while the utility company relocated their facilities. As soon as the conflict was resolved, the contractor has been working continuously to complete the bridge as soon as possible.
We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation during construction. We understand these projects are very disruptive; however they are necessary to maintain the County’s vital transportation infrastructure.
In order to expedite the replacement of this bridge, the County has solely funded the project. By avoiding the red tape associated with State or Federal dollars, the County was able to begin design, permit, bid, and construct this project in under 17 months. With proper inspection and maintenance, this new bridge will serve the public until at least the year 2096.
