The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has published the annual state report cards for all public school districts, including the Watertown Unified School District (WUSD). The district views this release as an opportunity to assess its progress and focus on ongoing improvement.
WUSD Superintendent Dr. Jarred Burke commented on the significance of the report card, stating, “The state report card provides important information about how our students are growing and achieving. Just as importantly, it helps us identify where we can improve. We view this data not as a final score, but as part of our continuous improvement model, a way to celebrate our successes and refine our systems so that every student continues to grow.”
The district expressed gratitude toward students, staff, families, and the community for their roles in supporting education. WUSD emphasized its mission to offer educational opportunities that promote academic excellence and lifelong learning. The district’s core values include empathy, honesty, integrity, perseverance, and respect.
According to WUSD leadership, efforts continue to evolve through new approaches in literacy and math instruction and by expanding college and career readiness pathways. The district is also working on strengthening connections within schools and with the broader community.
Leadership teams plan to use this year’s report card results to inform future strategies aimed at improving student outcomes. They will align these strategies with professional development goals in order to enhance overall school performance.
