Ashley Duchemin, Marketing & Communications Director for the Delavan-Darien School District, has received national recognition at the 2025 National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Seminar in Washington, D.C. The event took place from July 20 to July 23.

Duchemin was honored with three awards: the Golden Achievement Award for the 2024 Homecoming Campaign, and two Awards of Excellence—one for the DD Tech & Youth Apprenticeship Video Series and another for the #CometNation 2024–2025 District Wall Calendar. These awards are among the most notable honors in school communications and are given to projects that show strong planning, creativity, and measurable results. Each project was reviewed by accredited school public relations professionals who judged them based on their effectiveness and adherence to national best practices.

Drew Halbesma, Superintendent of the Delavan-Darien School District, said, “Ashley is a one-person powerhouse behind all of our district’s communication efforts. Ashley’s work reflects an exceptional level of creativity, professionalism, and passion for public education.” He added, “Her ability to build trust with families and strengthen our brand across the region has been transformational. These awards are a testament to her talent, leadership, and deep commitment to our schools. We are extremely fortunate to have her representing Delavan-Darien on a national level.”

Duchemin leads all aspects of communication strategy for the district. Her Homecoming campaign brought together students, staff, alumni, and community partners in a celebration of pride and tradition. The video series she produced showcased the impact of youth apprenticeship programs and DD Tech initiatives within the district. She also redesigned the district calendar to provide families with clear information about school events.

According to district officials, Duchemin’s work has helped raise awareness about student achievements, staff accomplishments, and community partnerships.

“This recognition is not just about the work, it’s about the people and purpose behind it,” said Duchemin. “I’m incredibly honored to represent our schools on a national level, and I’m grateful for the support from our students, staff, families, and business and industry partners who make our work in education meaningful every day. Being a team of one means I rely on strong relationships across our schools and partners to bring these stories to life.”

Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, Duchemin plans to continue strengthening community ties and supporting student success through ongoing storytelling efforts.
