The Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) School of Business has announced the appointment of Steve Board as the Interim Director. This decision was made by the Board of Trustees to ensure continuity and maintain the university's standard of excellence. Dr. Tracy Foster, who has been serving as Dean, is stepping back from administrative duties but will continue teaching part-time.

Steve Board brings over 35 years of leadership experience to his new role. His career includes significant achievements such as planning the relocation of a Fortune 100 company and revitalizing two under-performing businesses. As director of business development for a national construction firm, he helped increase annual revenue from $350 million to $1.4 billion over eight years. He also contributed to the growth of a start-up minority-owned business, which saw an increase to $80 million annually within ten years.

Initially invited to serve at Maranatha while planning a business in Atlanta, Board declined but later joined MBU’s faculty in 2012 as an associate professor and director of development. "I believe that in addition to getting an education, college students also need to be mentored and discipled," Board states. His commitment extends beyond academics; he often invites students for meals or games at his home and assists with internships.

Board is active in Gospel outreach and community involvement in Watertown, holding roles such as alderman on the Main Street Reconstruction Task Force, member of the historical society board, participant in Rotary club activities, and various commission posts. "I like being involved," he says. "I like to have some influence in the community."

Dr. Tom Graham, Vice President of Academic Affairs at MBU, supports this appointment: “Mr. Board is the right person to lead the School of Business during this transitional period. He possesses both a wealth of knowledge and experience from the business world and an understanding of how to transfer that knowledge to students in the classroom.”
