The Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) School of Business has appointed Steve Board as the Interim Director. The decision was approved by the Board of Trustees, following Dr. Tracy Foster's decision to step down from administrative duties while continuing part-time teaching.
Steve Board brings over 35 years of leadership experience to the role. His background includes serving as a plan examiner in Michigan, planning the relocation of a Fortune 100 company, and turning around two under-performing businesses. Notably, he led business development at a national construction firm, increasing annual growth from $350 million to $1.4 billion over eight years.
Board initially declined an offer to serve at Maranatha due to commitments in Atlanta but later joined MBU’s faculty in 2012 as an associate professor and director of development. "I believe that in addition to getting an education, college students also need to be mentored and discipled," Board stated regarding his commitment to mentoring future Christian business leaders.
In addition to his academic role, Board is active in community service within Watertown. He serves on various boards and commissions, including the Main Street Reconstruction Task Force and the local historical society board. "I like being involved," he said about his community engagement efforts.
Dr. Tom Graham, Vice President of Academic Affairs at MBU, expressed confidence in Board's appointment: “Mr. Board is the right person to lead the School of Business during this transitional period." He emphasized Board's combination of practical business experience and educational insight as crucial for guiding students effectively.
