Enrollment at Palmyra-Eagle Area School District decreased by 3.5% compared to previous school year

There were 574 students enrolled in Palmyra-Eagle Area School District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.5% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.5% of them were boys, and 49.5% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 83.1% of the Palmyra-Eagle Area School District total enrollment.

Palmyra-Eagle Area School District covers three schools within Jefferson County, with its main office in Palmyra.

Among the three schools in the Palmyra-Eagle Area School District, Eagle Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 265 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
