The Elkhorn Police Department has issued a warning regarding unsolicited fundraising letters sent by the National Police Association. According to the department, these letters ask for donations claiming to support local law enforcement, but none of the funds actually benefit local agencies.

“If you received any unsolicited fundraising letters from any organization, we recommend you do not respond. You can also report any suspicious mail to the US Postal Inspection Service. We also strongly encourage that you verify the legitimacy of any charity before donating. By staying informed and cautious, you can protect yourself from potential scams,” stated the department.

Authorities urge residents to be careful with donation requests and suggest verifying charities before making contributions. Suspicious mail should be reported to relevant authorities for further investigation.
