A phishing scam email has been reported, targeting permit applicants by instructing them to wire payments to an unknown account.

According to the City of Elkhorn, “The City will never request payment by wire transfer under any circumstances. If you receive an email or message requesting this, do not respond and contact the City immediately.”

Phishing scams are a common tactic used by criminals to trick individuals into sending money or revealing sensitive information. Residents are urged to be cautious when receiving unsolicited emails regarding payments and to verify any requests directly with official city contacts.

Residents who encounter suspicious emails related to city permits should avoid responding and promptly notify city officials for further guidance.
