Assistant State Superintendent Paul Manriquez visited the Elkhorn Area School District in February during Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, according to a March 19 announcement. Manriquez returned to the district to observe how students are benefiting from expanded learning opportunities.
The visit highlights the district’s efforts to provide students with hands-on experiences and practical skills that prepare them for future careers or further education. Programs such as auto shop, culinary classes, the TopFlight leadership program, and partnerships with Gateway Technical College were showcased during his tour.
Manriquez saw firsthand how these initiatives have changed the way students learn in Elkhorn. The district supports community engagement by offering programs that enhance student access and opportunities, according to the official website.
In addition to community engagement, the Elkhorn Area School District focuses on fostering student achievement and readiness for higher education and careers through innovative educational strategies and supportive initiatives, according to the official website.
The emphasis on career and technical education reflects a broader trend in schools aiming to equip students with relevant skills for today’s workforce. The district’s approach may serve as a model for other communities looking to expand similar opportunities.
